In Celtic mythology the stag is a symbol of the forest. Because of its tree like antlers it almost seems as if it carries the forest around with it on its head. The stag is fast, powerful, agile and sexually vigorous, much like the energy of nature which is self regenerating. The stag sheds its antlers in the autumn and regrows them in the spring just like the seasonal cycle of the forest trees.
